CARGO OF HOPE

Feel the wind, smell the riggers’ tar and taste the brine in this story of a century old wooden sailing boat and her crew of intrepid adventurers in Shane Granger’s rip-roaring real-life sea tale “Cargo of Hope”.

A salty yarn fit to enthrall seasoned sailors, dreamers, and armchair adventurers of all ages, with vicious storms, exotic islands, heart-rending drama, and priceless glimpses into the reality of life on small tropical islands.

If Joseph Conrad had a son, then Shane Granger must be that lucky lad. My advice is not to read this book in the evening, not if you expect to get any sleep.

I am keeping this one to read again.

I can’t say enough good about this book. In a world of stress and uncertainty, Cargo of Hope involves you in the good they bring to deserving people with their century old sailboat, bringing supplies to island residents forgotten by the outside world.
Written by a seasoned sailor, he brings you aboard as part of the crew to experience what it was like to be aboard a wooden sailing ship a century ago, but in the unique experience of it occurring in the 21st century.
The wonders, the beauty, the fear and terrifying times, all the experiences of a sailor during the Age of Sail, but with the safety equipment, the expert oversight, and guidance of a professional Captain, and for many of us, much better food!
A book of love, service, the sea, and a boat. What came through loud and clear was what’s missing from so many modern books; the love of the boat, the confidence that the boat will take care of you no matter what the weather throws at you, so long as you take care of her, and the joy of being on a prosaic of a labor of love, a love mostly lost in today’s world.
I truly thank the author for writing this book. It is one book I will never forget!
