While I was initially sceptical about yet another self-help tome promising deep personal transformation when I was given this book, I found Iris Angellys’ book to be surprisingly interesting.
Ms Angellys does a great job in pointing out the nebulous concepts of body-mind connection with a refreshing pragmatism that prevents the work from descending into new-age platitudes.
Sure, at first glance, the idea of “listening to your body” might sound like a bit of ‘mumbo-jumbo’, but by slowly reading each chapter, I saw how she brings her insights into her own relatable personal experiences and practical approaches.
Again, I admit I approached this book with caution but loved how Ms Angellys broke down in simple ways complex emotional and physical self-awareness we all experience but never really pay attention to.
That said, not every reader will find the same depth or resonance I read, and I feel that the book’s true value is when a reader will is open and ready to engage with its concepts.
This is a valuable and thoughtful contribution to the genre of personal development writing.
We all get something out of life if we give it a chance and I did by reading this novel and I recommend you give it a try and see what your body (and mind) together tells you.
