This was my first experience reading a novel by Colleen Hoover, and it truly felt like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride from start to finish.
In ‘Verity’, I got to see the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin. Just when she seems to have hit rock bottom, an unexpected opportunity lands in her lap—a chance to revive her career by finishing the bestselling series of renowned author Verity Crawford, who, because of a tragic accident, cannot complete her work.
What begins as a dream job quickly turns into a nightmarish descent into Verity’s unsettling world. As Lowen delves into Verity’s office, sifting through her notes and manuscripts, she uncovers far more than just plot outlines. The deeper she digs, the more she unearths about Verity’s dark and twisted past, making her question everything she thought she knew.
Ms Hoover’s writing just kept me turning the pages, wanting to know what the next chapter will bring, keeping me on an almost perpetual edge, constantly second-guessing what was going to happen next.
The ending, well, you got to read it—what a twist and at the same time I realised that this is the way Lowen would have ended her own novel.
